LA ScreamFest

We have some good news. The Killing Strain was selected to screen in the LA ScreamFest. This was the same festival that premiered 'Paranormal Activity'. Ron and Daniel will make a trek out to LA for the screening on Oct. 16. We'll keep you posted.

This has been a long year. A year ago we had just finished principal photography and getting ready for AFM (American Film Market). We've learned a TON in this year. One thing is selling a film is just as hard- really harder in my opinion- than making a film. This year we are returning to AFM with a finished film. Our sales agent Worldwide Film Entertainment will have a booth and be fielding offers from buyers (distributors) from all over the world. They are planning a buyers screening during the market.
Everyone has been so supportive during this long year.
THANKS EVERYONE!

Cast and Crew Screening.

Thanks to everyone who came out to our little cast and crew screening. We had a little technical blip at the end of the film, but it seemed everyone had a good time. Also thanks to Santikos Theaters who worked with us to screen the film. We now have a new set of friends. Update is we will do a test screening of the film again on June 18th and 19th at midnight. We are continuing to cut and re-mix sound etc. You are all invited! We also are starting our viral campaign so if you get an email with a little video teaser please pass it along to all your friends. This movie has been helped by so many of our friends we want to keep you all up to date as much as possible.

Also all of the music was done for the movie by two composers 25% by Chris King with a band called 'This Will Destroy You' check them out at http://www.myspace.com/thiswilldestroyyou . 75% of the film was composed by Marcus Zuhr he has done many things on Television and films you can check out all the music he did on 'The Killing Strain' you can listen to the next Bernard Herrmann at: http://marcuszuhr.com/

Howdy from the Zom Ranch! Yes we are closer that ever to the release of 'The Killing Strain'. New crew member Daniel Behrman is an editor from LA and quickly cut us a trailer to replace the aging one we have used to raise money and create interest in the Film.
Here it is. Please comment.

Closer to the finish line

OK guys and gals it's been a while since we've let everyone know what's going on. Well yes we are editing away like salt mine workers. Picture is locked and finishing up open and close credits and the last shot of the movie which is a complex CG shot (computer generated). Also the audio mix is coming along. Derrick Rutledge is doing the mix and of course like any fine low budget feature he's working around his working schedule. I'm assisting him and we're getting close to a final screener.

Yes we are going to have a premier, just when and the details are not worked out yet. One thing I've learned on this film is next time raise more money! I guess it the life of the low/no budget independent filmmaker (LOL). I have shot some video but haven't had the time to download it yet so look for some of those chronicles coming soon. Also look for a new trailer soon.
Thanks for your support.

Maria Returns

Maria (Nina)was done with half of her shots early in the corn fields. Then she went off and worked for some director guy named Robert Rodriguez (Spy Kids, Grindhouse etc....) On his latest film Machete as Machete's wife. The Killing Strain crew is so happy for her.
She Returns to us for one day at the exterior location for a dream seq. This is some of that day. Enjoy.

Shooting outside in 100 degree weather.

As we continued shooting the exterior Texas continued on it's longest above 100 degree day count. I think we had like 62 days where the temp was above 100 degrees f. and we decided to shoot a movie this summer! All in all the extras, actors and crew hung in there.
